Product Description

The Stroke Groover is a simple, highly effective billiard stroke training aid developed by Master Instructor/Coach Tom Simpson. Through not allowing players to drop their elbow during the stroke, the Groover helps players practice the optimum pool stroke movement, clearly feel what the proper motion feels like, precisely train their stroke arm, and quickly groove their swing. Widely used by instructors. Pool table not necessary.

Product Reviews

"I have found your stroke trainer to work very good and it has proven to be successful at my school, I have tested it with a couple of students who were always dropping the elbow and now they understand why they should not drop the elbow. Great product!"

"The Stroke Groover definitely gives a student an idea of what it's like to have less elbow movement and therefore a more precise hit on the cue ball. It has merit and I am for it."

"Overall, the product is well designed and generally accepted based on the clients sampling rate used to analyze the product at my academy.

The accuracy of the Stroke Groover, as measured in the San Francisco Billiards Sports (SBS) laboratory under controlled conditions with billiard players at all levels showed that a player could use it with consistent results while practicing their stroke.

The material of the Stroke Groover was sturdy and should last for several years. The clients found that adjusting the Stroke Groover was easy and effortless. Some of the clients (especially intermediate level and above) were a little hesitant with a cue standing close to them when trying the Stroke Groover, but they seem to adapt with some guidance.

Overall, the product is well thought out and has a good design. Most clients (novice to high intermediate levels) sampled during the test evaluation were open to trying the product for their stroke training. The experts to professional players were open to trying the product, but did not show a long-term commitment to using the Stroke Groover.

Summary

  • The Stroke Groover billiard tool is a good training tool that for players starting off to high intermediate players based on the sample clients tested.
    • Expert players to professional level players were reluctant to continue using the tool on a long-term basis. That is not to say that they could not benefit from the tool.
  • The Stroke Groover can help a beginner to experienced level player improve their guidance of the cue by using a repeatability stroking technique.
  • Tool can be used away from a billiard table.
  • This Stroke Groover stimulates the stroking muscles to assist players in a developing a consistent stroke.

Recommendation
The Stroke Groover is a well thought out tool that coaches could use with their billiard players to reinforce the concept of a simple and basic stroke mechanics."

"Tom Simpson has hit this one on the head. I, for one have been working with one similar to this, but you made me throw many of my tools out the door. After utilizing this simple tool on many students that drop their elbow, getting feedback was impressive. To prevent the student from dropping one's elbow will inflict a mind set to memorize muscle memory in a new direction. The tool is well constructed and very simple. Most everyone noted how simple it was to use, and it worked. The after effects without the assistance of the tool made a significant difference. The students noted a change in their stroke, and I was able to see a change as well. The construction and manufacturing of it should be very reasonable in any one’s price range. I give my full approval and merit. Great job Tom."
