The 2009-2010 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) regained its momentum after the holidays with stop #23 - a 9-ball event at Smokies in Virginia Beach, VA. The $1,000 added event featured twenty-eight players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Dave Perry (Virginia Beach, VA) started hot and capped off his march to the hot seat with an A-side semifinals win over Joe Hughes (Virginia Beach, VA) 5-1 and an A-side finals clipping of Bob Staeck (Virginia Beach, VA) 5-4. Staeck’s A-side semis win had been over Bernard Andico (Virginia Beach, VA) 5-3.

(L-R) Bob Staeck (3rd), Dave Perry (1st) and Joe Hughes (2nd)

The B-side action included Neal Lim (Virginia Beach, VA) eliminating Justin Lawrence (Virginia Beach, VA) at 7th place by a 5-1 margin, and Jessie Figueroa (Virginia Beach, VA) joined Lawrence via a loss to Bill Mason (Virginia Beach, VA) 5-2. In the 5th place round, Joe Hughes (Virginia Beach, VA) ousted Bill Mason 5-2, while Neal Lim performed a similar service to Bernard Andico (Virginia Beach, VA) by the same 5-2 margin. Joe Hughes then relegated Neal Lim to 4th place, 5-3 and continued his hot hand in the B-side finals to finish off Bob Staeck’s day at 3rd place, 5-2. The tourney finals was Dave Perry’s to lose, and Dave was having nothing of it, as he fought off Joe Hughes by a 5-2 margin in the first set for the title!

By virtue of Dave Perry also being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-Ball singles entry into the 2010 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors Lucasi Hybrid Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric, Nick Varner Signature Cases, oZone Billiards and Pool Cue Guru for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities and tour stop openings are still available for the 2009/2010 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.

The Tour features two stops over the January 16-17 weekend: 1). a $500-added 8-Ball Tour Stop at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport, IA on Saturday, January 16 (contact Terry Anderson at 563-359-7225); and 2). the $750-added "Central Ohio Open" (8-Ball Singles) at 8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards in Columbus, OH, January 16-17 [offering both men’s and women’s divisions!] (contact Richard Whaley or Michael Dunn at 614-436-2948).
